Tux Tuesday: Scratch That

Tux on the old scratcher

We all know that cats need to scratch. It helps to maintain healthy claws as well as stretch and condition arm muscles. For me, it also helps me get out the rage. For this reason, most indoor cats should have a good scratching post that they can use (instead of the furniture!).

Old vs. new

Tux scratchingAs you can see, I’ve been going to town on the first scratcher my parents got me (it lasted a year though which it pretty good), so they thought it might be time for a new one. They debated getting me a more substantial one or a carpet scratcher, but I just love my cardboard scratcher so much that they bought me a similar model from Cosmic Catnip. And yes, comes with catnip that you can sprinkle on it which just sweetens the deal in my book.

I like that I can face down the slope or up the slope when scratching, and usually do both during a scratching session. Sometimes I even just like to lay on it and roll in the catnip. See me in action below!

Well mom and dad joke that I have “rage,” but maybe a more appropriate phrase would be just lots of energy. When they get home from work I like to show off my scratching skills and run around the house! Hmm that’s weird that the last video didn’t load, here’s the YouTube link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7IRYce1bGHw
Hopefully that works! And we entered your contest, yay!
