Daily Dose of Dapper: Pillow Peeper

Tux behind pillow

When mom uses her laptop she likes to sit it on top of a pillow on her lap. And I like to sit on her legs and prop myself up on her pillow too. Sometimes I feel like the pillow is blocking her view of me, so I try to help her out and put my paws on it to hold it down a bit. Ah, much better, there I am. Now I’m in prime position for ear rubs and head pats whenever she needs a break.

Tux Tuesday: Pets Rock by Bret Michaels

Bret Michaels collection

Did you know that Bret Michaels (lead vocalist of the glam metal band Poison and reality tv star) had a line of pet toys?! We didn’t either! While browsing Petsmart for cat toys, we clicked on one and saw that it was part of the “Pets Rock” collection by Bret Michaels. Of course we had to investigate further and saw that the line currently includes 156 pet products (primarily apparel and toys). We loved the little hoodie (with slimming black side panels) and ugly Christmas sweater, and of course the cat toy we were initially looking at. What do you think of his line of pet products?

Daily Dose of Dapper: Tree Time

Tux under tree

It’s that time of year when the holiday tree goes up and I have a confession to make: Hi, my name is Tux (the Dapper Gent), and I’m addicted to Christmas trees. I don’t know if it’s the sparkly lights, the dangling ornaments just begging to be played with, or just the fact that it’s new and exciting, but I just can’t help myself. As soon as mom pulls it out of the box (yeah it’s fake, but we live in a small apartment, cut us some slack!) I’m right there next to her, chewing on the branches and basically getting in the way the entire time. I often sit next to the tree and just stare up into it, mesmerized by the lights and looking for possible squirrels and birds to attack (I never find any though). So far I haven’t knocked the tree over or broken any ornaments, but there are still many days to go before the end of the holiday season and I’m not making any promises. P.S. Here’s a pic of our finished tree below!

Cat Lady Covets: Catmas Carol book

Catmas carol book

Book excerptDue to the big storm that hit us in Northern California yesterday, we weren’t able to post our regular “Cat Lady Covets” before we lost power. But now that the power is back, we decided to post it today!

Keeping in the holiday spirit, we found this book of carols all re-imagined as “Catmas” carols. The carols are all meant to be sung in the same tune of the carols you are familiar with, the words have just been changed a bit to pay tribute to our feline friends! A cute idea for any cat lover, and we also have to mention the illustrations are adorable and done by one of our fav cat illustrators, Gemma Correll (also seen here).

Daily Dose of Dapper: Taking Cover

Tux crawling under blanket

A big storm is headed our way and I’m taking cover! Well actually, this pic was from Thanksgiving when I was playing under the dog blanket, but same difference. I’m got a fully stocked bag of cat food, a jug of fresh water ready, and a clean litter box, so I think I’m all set. And mom is working from home tomorrow to keep me company (well, and so she doesn’t have to commute in the storm). I’m just excited she will be home to play with me and cuddle all day.

Tux Tuesday: Camping for Cats

Cat tent

As an indoor kitty, I’m pretty comfortable staying inside my cozy apartment and watching the outside world from my window perch. But occasionally when we visit my grandparents house everyone sits outside and I get so lonely and sad that I have to stay inside. That’s why I’m so taken by this mesh tent – it’s the perfect solution so my parents can take me outside with them. There’s plenty of room to run around inside, and they don’t have to worry about me running away or getting into anything I’m not supposed to. I mean, there’s always the leash, but I’m no so much a fan of that.

Daily Dose of Dapper: Boxed In

Tux and La Croix box

Question: What is better than an empty cardboard box? The correct answer is: NOTHING!! I just love my boxes! As soon as mom and dad finished the last of the La Croix this weekend (a delicious fizzy fruity drink) I jumped right into playing in the empty box. I like to stick my head in and push it around, and if the other end is open I spring through and wear it like a girdle, rolling all over the floor. I’m so happy playing with my box and show everyone my fuzzy belly for rubs and love.

Feline Friends Friday: Daisy the Kitten

Today our feline friend is Daisy the Kitten, whose claim to fame is being the “world’s cutest cat” according to various social media outlets. Her owner, Ben Torode, is a Tokyo-based photographer that started taking pictures of his Persian kitten last year and posting them to Flickr. The photos gained popularity and has now made Daisy into a bonafide internet celeb, but we just enjoy these adorable photos.

Cat Lady Covets: Crazy Cat Sweaters

Crazy Kitty sweaters

Santa hat pinsBack in the summer I had mentioned my love for Pretty Snake designs and their kitty print swimwear. Now that it’s winter, what better time to mention their one-of-a-kind crazy kitty sweaters! I fell in love with this sweater design years ago and still haven’t pulled the trigger to buy one, what’s wrong with me!? I love that the designer (Joseph) finds one-of-a-kind sweaters to print on, so every one is different. I’m loving the lace one on the top right, and gold and red are perfect for the holidays. Speaking of holidays, the icing on the cake (or should I say, the adorable accessory on the cat) are these tiny felt Santa hat pins they design to specifically match up with the kitties on the sweaters. Just pin them on, and your kitty sweater instantly becomes a holiday kitty sweater. Multi-purpose and adorable, what’s not to love?!

Daily Dose of Dapper: Dog Stalker

Tux hiding

We spent Thanksgiving at my grandparents house which meant seeing my arch nemesis/furry friend (depending on what mood I’m in): Mandy, their golden retriever. She’s very nice and friendly, but it just takes me a little while to get used to her. So I basically just stalk her around the house, peering around corners and always keeping one eye on her, even when I’m lounging on mom’s lap. You can never be too careful.
